It's almost impossible to believe that this chair is a century old, but that's the reality. A Chair by Tolix was, in fact, created by Xavier Pauchard in 1927 and has become a true icon of industrial design. Shapes and materials make us think of an object created only recently, because its contemporaneity is truly surprising. Xavier Pauchard was also the founder of the Tolix brand. His background was not that of an architect, but that of a metal worker. In a historical moment in which almost all the chairs produced were made of wood, he chose to open a small business dedicated to the production of metal chairs, armchairs, stools and furniture.‎ He studied the possibilities linked to galvanization and discovered, already in 1907, that it was possible to protect the sheet metal by immersing it in molten zinc.‎ His first customers were in the professional field, his chairs furnished factories, offices and hospitals, but they soon began to be widespread also in café terraces.‎ A Chair by TOLIX it is an iconic piece that is part of the collections of the Vitra Museum, the Moma, the Pompidou Center and the Villa Savoye of the famous architect Le Corbusier.
